WELCOME TO WWW.RAIDERSOFFROAD.COM THE NORTH EASTS No.1 OFFROAD CLUB

RAIDERS OFFROAD

INFORMATION

The North of England and the Scottish Borders have a long history of Offroading, as far back as the late Seventies, the Border 100 was run in the Bonchester Bridge area, at the time it was the equivalent of a modern day Hillrally, even attracting semi-works teams from of all people Land Rover. Mini Safari’s started in the North East of England, the now play a large part in the AWDC season, as a starting ground for Safari and Hillrally drivers. So what is Offroading! well it is made up of different disciplines Family Vehicle Trials, where you use an ordinary road going motor to traverse a course marked out with canes. RTV and Modified Trials are basically the same, but as the name implies the vehicles are different and the courses are more testing. Comp Safari is racing against the clock, on a course that can be anything up to 15 miles in length. The vehicles are highly tuned and highly Modified Enduros are similar to Comp Safari’s but run over a distance rather than timed on each lap.

We wanted to start a club that would appeal to a large number of enthusiasts, but also a club that was aware of the beginner and was adaptable enough to meet both sets of needs.

Family Vehicle Trials are an Ideal starting point for any newcomer to the sport, allowing the novice to gently feel their way into the sport, using their own Road Legal motor to learn the skills required in offroad driving, before moving into a more complex area of the sport.

Many of the members have years of experience in offroad driving and are always willing to help with advice for novice and newcomers to offroading.

The Range of offroad activities we intend to cater for is only limited by the imagination of the members,

If you want to try something new just let us find out if its legal and we will give it a go.

Also lets not forget the social side, we meet at Fox & Hounds, Kirk Merrington, Spennymoor, Co. Durham on the first Monday of the month at 7:30 pm. (2nd Monday on Bank Holidays).

If you you like to join Raiders Offroad you can download a membership form to open and print in 'Microsoft Word' from the membership page or call Mick Hilton and we'll post an application form to you.
